Farmers markets are so much more than a place to buy food – they also help cultivate strong community bonds and provide a space for community members to stay active and engaged. Markets all over Arizona have activities, events, and resources to get your family involved! Here are a few activities coming up at local Double Up markets:

Rillito Park and Trail Dust Town Farmers Markets: 17
th Annual Chile Festival

Both the Rillito Park and Trail Dust Town farmers markets are working together to host a chile festival. Live music, fresh chiles, and chef demonstrations are just a few of the attractions the festival will have. Stop by and enjoy the fiery produce!

The Trail Dust Town festival will be held on September 14 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Head to the Rillito Park market on September 16 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to enjoy their festival.

Phoenix Public Market Open Air Market

Phoenix Public Market Open Air Market has tons of events year-round. A few of their upcoming events include knife sharpening services and a gardening workshop.

The first weekend of every month, the market hosts SharpVan, where you can have your kitchen knives sharpened for free.
Have you ever wanted to start your own garden? The Open Air Market is holding a gardening workshop on September 15 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. – put your green thumb to good use at this event! If you miss this workshop, there will be another one in November.

Stay updated on the events happening at the Open Air Market here.

Sierra Vista Farmers Market

Markets also provide access to great resources for community members, like health screenings, classes, and other important information. On the third Thursday of every month, the Sierra Vista market has free blood pressure and blood sugar tests.

Communities thrive when their members are active and engaged. These are just a few of the many activities and resources offered by markets across the state! The best way to find out what’s happening at your favorite market is to follow them on their social media accounts or ask a market manager. You can also stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter for updates and events. Head to your local market to get involved, and as always, don’t forget to Double Up on locally-grown fruits and veggies with your Double Up Food Bucks!
