Leaves are changing, but healthy habits don’t have to! With fall weather comes many exciting opportunities for families to have fun together and stay active.

The season brings sweet treats and family time. This fall, family bonding doesn’t just have to be around the fire or the table: take it outside! Whether it’s a trip to the farm for an apple picking adventure or a hike up one of Arizona’s many scenic mountain trails, there’s something for everyone.

No matter your location, you can take part in these fun and festive activities across the state.

1. Have an adventure and get moving  at a corn maze

A walk through a corn maze is sure to spark family bonding and keep everyone fit this fall. Solve a maze with your family at Willis Farm, Buckelew Farm, Mortimer Family Farms, Mother Nature Farm, and more.

2. Squash boredom with a trip to the pumpkin patch

Take a trip to a pumpkin patch! Not only does a walk in the patch make for good exercise, the family also gets to bring home a pumpkin that can be turned into a cool jack-o-lantern or used to make baked pumpkin seeds (which can be used in tons of healthy, festive and delicious snacks). There are several pumpkins all over Arizona waiting to be picked, including Agua Linda Farm, Apple Annie’s Produce & Pumpkins, Schnepf Farms, and Tolmachoff Farm.

3. ‘Tis the season… for crispy, delicious apples!

Apple picking is a fall favorite, and you’ll find tons of apples all over the state this season! All the hard work of picking apples from tall trees pays off when you bite into the delicious, fresh fruit. Bringing kiddos along on adventures like this helps them connect with the food they’re eating and where it comes from.  Check out Arizona’s many apple picking destinations, including Date Creek Ranch, Caywood Cotton Farms, Patagonia Orchards, or Howard’s Orchard.

4. Enjoy the beautiful sights of Arizona with a family hike

Hiking allows the family to enjoy the fall weather while staying active all day long. Beautiful scenery, fall colors, and yummy snacks are the perfect backdrop to a healthy and exciting family outing. Take advantage of all the outdoor gems Arizona has to offer, like Papago Park, Wind Cave Trailhead, White Tank Mountain, Lost Dutchman Park and so many more.

5. Take a hayride to explore our wonderful Arizona farms

There’s no reason to stay cooped up when there is so much to be explored on a hayride. Experience farms near you in a unique way, surrounded by food, fresh air, fun, and family. Vertuccio Farms, Schnepf Farms, Tolmachoff Farms, Mortimer Family Farms, and more offer hayrides throughout the festive fall season.
