College students across the country are facing food insecurity at overwhelming rates. Time, budget, and transportation are all common obstacles that make it difficult for students to have a nutrient-rich diet that is balanced and affordable. The 2019 legislative session is in full swing, and we’re following various efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of residents and regions across the state. One important proposed bill, SB1476, will help beginning farmers enter the agricultural workforce. This is an urgent need to secure the future of our state’s agriculture industry and health of our residents.
Valentine's Day is a wonderful opportunity to focus on how we cherish and nourish ourselves and our loved ones. Today is a day to show your special someone how much you care, but we encourage you to also show some love to your number one cheerleader – you! It’s easy to forget the love we need to thrive and be a better partner, parent, friend, and community member. Self-love is different for everyone, and there are many paths to achieving a healthy self-love routine. Outdoor activities are an important part of a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle. With varying schedules and busy days, making time for the outdoors can be a challenge. Sometimes getting outside can seem daunting, but spending even a short time outside engaging in physical activity might be just the thing you need to feel relaxed and refreshed. Pinnacle Prevention is dedicated to growing healthy families and communities, and we recognize that change starts from within. That’s why we strive to make our office a balanced, family-friendly, and flexible work environment. Polices that promote work-life balance help support and retain all employees, especially women and working moms. We have been overwhelmed by the incredible support for our recently launched Pots to Love program. As we wrap up another week, here is a look back at a topic we’ve discussed before: food insecurity and its impact on senior citizens. The Pots to Love program helps seniors and other in-need Arizonans get the kitchen tools they need to cook nourishing meals at home, but there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure our elderly neighbors aren’t bearing the weight of hunger.
At Pinnacle Prevention, we are dedicated to growing healthy families and communities. Our mission is to inspire and advance a healthy food system and opportunities for active living. Learn more about what that means to our team of registered dietitians, researchers and social scientists.
